Sal Corrente Interview??
So what did you think?? I thought it was interesting, but at times Sal came off a little too brash. The comments about "another WWE performer" out of control was a little too much for me. It was as if he was comparing himself to the Benoit situation and the seriousness of the Lawler/Corrente story is nothing near that. I also thought it was a little over the edge, when he said something to the effect that Lawler had murder in his eyes?? All and all I thought it was interesting and informing especially about the inner workings of Memphis Wrestling.

I thought the interview with Sal Corrente was great. Sal exposed Memphis Wrestling from the inside out. We as fans only see what the promoter/producer wants us to see. But i don't think that was the main objective of the interview. I think it was a man who was upset about a promotion where he thought he should have been more than what he was and he (Sal) didn't like it. As for what happened in Tunica i was at the show and saw the whole ordeal. The fans that Sal Corrente had the issues with was the wrong kind of fans to put heat on. These 3 guys looked like they had come out of the backwoods of Mississippi and was looking for a fight, beside the amounts of alcohol that they had consumed that evening. As for what Jerry Lawler did i truly thought it was just part of the angle. I've seen Lawler wrestle for years and he acted no different that night then what he has in the past. Basically what i'm saying in closing is this, Sal was upset with the promotion and where he stood within and he just wanted to try and give a black-eye to the Memphis Wrestling promotion in general.
I was impressed with Sals, back ground in wrestling. He, sounded like he knew more about the wrestling business than Corry Maclin.
I agree with you there, but I think my two oldest daughters know more about wrestling that Corey Maclin. I am serious. When he says, "Big Move!!" -they yell "Call the move right!!" Maclin has a team like "The Posse" who have got over so big everywhere they have worked - gimmick goldmine - and he doesn't know how to use them.
Is there a legal precedent of anything similar happening in the legal system.
Gene Jackson and I talked about that on the RasslePod that I put up today. Just think of the stuff that will happen, if Sal does win the case. Anybody that gets a hard chair shot or anything will want to sue.
all i can say about the interview is like i had said before to you i didn't really care where this guy had been or what he had done before now but it does inform the general public that he's not just some green guy that carried vince's bags...uh i mean just got into the business lol...but otherwise like i told you it wasn't bad for a first time but you needed to do more talking because you ask the questions they give answers and you both discuss the topics accordingly, that guy just talked all over you basically and he may have done alot in the business but with the attitude he came off with in his interview (basically putting himself over and over and over...well you get the point) then it's no wonder lawler didn't like the guy but hey i have never talked to him personally and he could be a really great guy but all in all bottom line was it was a stiff punch that's it, hell i have built a career on being stiff lol because lawler might not be the toughest guy around but if he had wanted to shoot on sal don't you really think sal would have got alot worse than a simple punch? just my opinion
I got this from Mark Tipton before he actually subscribed to the message board --
I have listened to the Sal interview and Gene Jackson rasslepod. I thought
you did an excellent job interviewing Sal (when you could get a word in
edgewise). Your conversation with Gene about the situation made a lot more
sense than Sal's strange perspective. You nailed him on the insanity of any
reference to the Benoit situation. The same could be said of comparing this
controversy to Andy Kaufman.
The only issue I had that I did not hear addressed was his appearances on
the news. He claimed a deep
love for the business, but he knows using terms like "scripted" and
"choreographed" is burying the business . When people outside of wrestling
hear those words, that is all they remember of the interview. I remember the
ABC 24 anchorman sarcastically saying "You mean pro wrestling is scripted?".
They didn't take his claim seriously because to them it was wrestling and
wrestling is fake. They just like having someone inside the business say so.
Whatever his motive, money, publicity, or something else, it is not O.K. to
achieve it at the expense of the business you claim to care for so much.
By the way, I listened to Sal on the way to Sam's Town. Your reporter did a
good job describing the show. Although I missed the first match, I thought
it was a very good show from top to bottom. He was right to praise the Tag
Title match in particular. The guys really hustled and the crowd was into
their match.
